The Viaduct Project, Leichhardt Municipal Council, 1995.

An air force high-altitude flying suit was cut open and Velcro-ed to the vaulted arch of a railway viaduct. Flapping and ballooning in the wind, it was both a denial of gravity and a tenacious avowal of our physical attachment to the earth.

This installation used the arch of a disused railway viaduct in central Sydney. As a counterpoint to existing graffiti on adjoining arches, Sims transcribed chalk drawings of constellations taken from astronomical charts of the northern hemisphere onto the brick surfaces . The work made reference to the symbology of the heavens from Greek myth to space exploration.

9 artists contributed work to this exhibition, each occupying consecutive arches of the viaduct.
